After the Boston Tea Party took affect the colonists have the first Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia to petition and protest against George III. Then, in 1775 the colonists had another meeting in Philadelphia. Later on that year, George Washington was named comander and cheif of the American Forces. Britian declared war on the colonies which lead to the Bunker Hill battle. Bunker Hill was one of many battles in the Revolutionary War. Because of the battle, it opened the Wildness Road for the pioneers in 1775 . Later on in 1776, Tom Paine publishes COMMON SENSE and that year the Declaration of Independce is adopted. In 1781, congress adopted the first constitution called the Articles of Confederation. 1783, the British finally recognizes America's independence. The Constitutional Convention gets a new constitution and slavery is recognized. Then, George Washington is voted as the first president of the United States.
